Idaho Water Resource Board Planning

The IWRB is responsible for planning for the conservation, development, use, and management of water resources in the state of Idaho. Primary planning efforts of the IWRB include production of:

  • The Idaho State Water Plan – Summarizes policies which are the guiding framework for water resource management in Idaho.
  • Comprehensive Basin Plans – Inventorying and assessing regional water resources in a specific river basin, waterway, aquifer, or geologic areas so that the values are protected.
  • Comprehensive Aquifer Plans – Addressing future water needs and proactively avoiding conflicts over competing water needs in the future.
  • State Protected River Plans
The IWRB also participates in planning activities to address drought, future demands, and project-related studies and assessments pertaining to specific water resources of the state.
